Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I get a massage?
Everyone needs a good firm massage at least once a month if you want to maintain a healthy muscular system free from pain and injury. We are an aging population and never before has society been so busy and stressed. Remedial Massage should be a part of everyone’s healthy living plan. Once a month is highly recommended for general maintenance, however more frequent treatments may be needed to address acute (new), or chronically recurring problem areas.
What to expect on your first massage visit?
Once arriving at my boutique style clinic at The Entrance North on the Central Coast clients often say how relaxed they are feeling already. The ambience, essential oils burning and chilled music create a relaxing vibe so that clients can begin their healing journey on arrival.
I kindly request arriving 5 minutes early so that you can fill out our new client form which will ask you about your health history and reason for your visit today. I like to make sure we have a clear understanding of what your expectations are, where your pain or muscle tightness is located and what you would like us to focus on in your first massage treatment.
If you are unsure of what you need then that’s fine too as I will assess your body and make a tailored treatment plan for you. Session notes are recorded on every visit so we can document your recovery and keep a track record of what works best in releasing your body.
Can I claim a health fund rebate?
Yes, all Health Funds are covered. You can request either a paper or digital receipt for claiming with your Health Fund.
When can I exercise after?
Most clients prefer not to exercise on the same day after your massage treatment. You need to let your body re-set with a good sleep in between your massage treatment and your next training session. Ideally 24 hours rest is best however we know that everyone’s schedules are jam packed and this is not always possible. We have found that having a good night’s rest is enough to ensure you receive all the benefits of your recent Massage.
Will I be sore after a massage?
It is common to feel a bit tired after a massage, and some clients will experience sore muscles the following day, especially after a Deep Tissue massage. Drinking plenty of water after your massage helps to eliminate toxins that have been released from congested tissue during your treatment, helping you to feel amazing sooner!
What do I wear during a Massage?
Clients are expected to leave underwear on during their massage. Large fluffy towels keep you warm, comfortable, and covered from head to toe, with only the area being worked on uncovered. It is possible to work directly through a towel or clothing if preferred, however more techniques can be utilised with an oil massage, so this is my usual method of working.
How soon can I come back after a massage?
Normally I recommend waiting a week between treatments to allow your body time to recover and adjust to any changes, especially after Deep Tissue work. Gentler treatments can safely be received as often as you like.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payment may be made by cash, eftpos, or bank transfer at the time of your appointment.
